Theocracy

A theocracy is a form of government in which religion is the highest authority.

After the Iranian Revolution of 1979, Iran became a theocracy.
Its political system was led by religious authorities, including clerics and the Guardian Council.

In this system, laws and political decisions must conform to religious principles such as shariah（伊斯兰教法）.
