United Nations (UN)
The United Nations (UN) was established in 1945 to promote peace, security, and international cooperation.
It was created partly because the League of Nations had failed:
- it lacked support from all major powers
- it lacked effective ways to stop conflicts from escalating
Note
The UN reflected postwar hopes for collective security（集体安全） and global stability.
It was supported even by countries that soon entered the Cold War.
