Basque Homeland and Freedom (ETA) was a separatist organization in northern Spain.

It sought independence for the Basque region and used terrorism, including assassinations and bombings.

Warning

ETA killed more than 800 people over the years.

In 2011, it declared an end to violent action and said it would pursue its aims through politics.
