Land Reform
Land reform is the redistribution of land from large landowners to peasants or landless farmers.
It was often meant to:
- reduce inequality
- weaken old landlord elites
- increase rural support for the government
In the 20th century, land reform became important in places such as China, Iran, Vietnam, Ethiopia, India, and Latin America.
