Council for Mutual Economic Assistance

The Council for Mutual Economic Assistance was the Soviet-led economic organization created in 1949 to coordinate trade and development among communist states.

It was meant to strengthen the Eastern Bloc economically and serve as an alternative to the Marshall Plan.
