Nikita Khrushchev

Nikita Khrushchev was the Soviet leader after Stalin.

He played a central role in the Cuban Missile Crisis by placing Soviet missiles in Cuba and later agreeing to remove them.

Note

Khrushchev tried to strengthen Soviet influence while avoiding full nuclear war.

His actions helped lead to the later creation of the Hot Line.
